🌱 Smart & Sustainable Pakistan: Leveraging IoT & AgriTech for ESG Impact
Proud that Sustainadility served as the Sustainability Partner CxO Global Forum #elevate2026 for a rich panel discussion exploring how Pakistan can turn IoT, AgriTech, and AI into real ESG outcomes.
Representing Sustainadility, Sajjeed Aslam shared his perspective on why sustainability needs to be treated as a business and economic imperative, not a compliance checkbox. His key message: the technologies already exist, precision agriculture, smart irrigation, drone-based crop monitoring, satellite imaging, what Pakistan needs now is an operating model, driving corporate farming backed by the policy interventions. The investment appetite to scale already exist, a data backed, bankable projects are still missing in the ecosystem to drive the available investment into transactions.
A few themes that stood out from the conversation:
🔹 Agriculture is Pakistan's largest economic sector, and largest carbon emitter, and the biggest ESG opportunity. AI-driven crop analytics and smart farm management platforms can lift yields while cutting resource waste.
🔹 IoT is the quiet enabler. Connected sensors for water, energy, and environmental monitoring are some of the most practical, deployable solutions available today.
🔹 ESG is a competitive advantage, not a cost centre. Companies that measure and report performance well are the ones attracting serious investment, including from climate funds and development finance institutions.
🔹 Climate resilience needs digital + green infrastructure together, from smart grids to flood management systems to carbon-smart agriculture.
🔹 Collaboration is the real unlock. Government, industry, academia, startups, and farmers all have to move in the same direction for any of this to scale nationally.
The panel closed with a challenge to every speaker: name one national initiative that could make Pakistan smarter and more sustainable, starting tomorrow. The common thread across every answer? None of it works without stronger operating model, policy, patient investment, and genuine cross-sector collaboration.
