CPB Contractors, as part of the SPARK Consortium delivering the North East Link, has reached a major project milestone, achieving 100% of its Major Project Skills Guarantee (MPSG) target years ahead of schedule.
Under the Victorian Government’s Local Jobs First Policy, the MPSG ensures that at least 10% of total project hours are completed by apprentices, trainees, and cadets. For SPARK, that equated to over 1.7 million hours dedicated to developing the next generation of skilled workers.
Key outcomes include:
689 trainees
110 apprentices
81 cadets
52 nationally recognised qualifications
50+ qualifications offered across disciplines.
A standout success has been the onsite Certificate III in Civil Construction (Tunnelling) program, providing participants with hands-on experience in complex underground works.
This achievement reinforces the project team's commitment to local jobs, capability building, and creating a lasting legacy of skills and opportunity across Victoria’s infrastructure sector.
